On Day of The Dead join hundreds of runners and spectators from throughout Southern California for an evening of music, art, remembrance and celebration. Run on your own or with a team in honor of your muerto or passed loved one.
From the pre-, during, and post 5k art viewing opportunities, the live music, neon lights, burning candles, painted faces, to the Los Muertos procession leading the run, the Run with Los Muertos event promises to be visually appealing, culturally enriching, physically engaging, and spiritually up lifting. Participants are encouraged to run in costume, t-shirts that honor loved ones that have passed, or in glow in the dark gear.
The first of its kind in the Coachella Valley, Run with Los Muertos promises to be a magical evening.
A flat course through historic downtown Coachella. Aid/Water stations at Mile 1 and Mile 2.
Coachella City Hall’s 6th street frontage will serve as the START and FINISH line. Program begins at 7pm. Race Begins at 8pm.
1st three finishers in each age and team division receive awards.
The Date Farmers, a world renowned art duo hailing from Coachella are the ideal stewards of what an organic, cultural, Coachella centric Dia de Los Muertos event should look and feel like.
Pop culturistas, they have participated in Art shows in Miami, Stockholm, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles as well as exhibits in Tokyo, London, and Oaxaca. The duo is currently featured on Beck’s 2013 Artist Series Beer labels, and were recent artists in residence at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With an emphasis on authenticity, compassion, and for the spiritual and cultural importance of the day, combined with an edge and boldness that is uniquely the Date Farmers, the group will design installations for the event grounds, will direct student volunteers, and produce a show featuring emerging local artists and established scene leaders from throughout the region.
